This session will focus on practical issues that arise in open, distance and blended learning course production from the point of view of the instructional designer/editor, focusing in particular on assessment issues.
Topics for discussion include:
- The role of the instructional designer/editor in programme development.
- Problems of assessment that arise in the distance learning/blended learning context.
- Practicalities of learning materials/content production for blended learning programmes, particularly copyright issues and plagiarism; how these impact both author and learner.
- Incorporating Professional Transferable Skills (PTSs): what they are and how to assess them?
- Portfolios and diaries as learning and assessment tools in a distance learning/blended learning context.
