Design for Learning: Curriculum and Assessment in Higher Education

The 7th Annual Teaching & Learning Conference

Invitation:

I am delighted to announce that registration is now open for our June (11th and 12th) Symposium. This is the 7th such annual gathering and we hope that you can join us. It promises to be a really stimulating event with excellent keynote presenters, discussion sessions and workshops. This year’s title is “Design for Learning: Curriculum and Assessment in Higher Education” and we will span topics such as learning outcomes, Bologna, assessment, design of courses and modules, etc. The keynotes are:

• Prof Kathy Isaacs, University of Pisa and Bologna expert
• Prof. Liz McDowell, head of the “Assessment for Learning” national centre (Newcastle,    England)
• Prof. Ferdinand von Prondzynski, President of DCU
• Dr. Kelly Coate, NUI Galway and co-author of “Engaging the Curriculum in Higher Education”
• Dr. Janet Parker,  Senior Research Fellow at the Open University and Editor in Chief of Arts and Humanities in Higher Education and Executive Editor of Teaching in Higher Education
• Prof. Phil Race, Higher Education Consultant and visiting Professor at Leeds Met.

A number of the workshops and sessions have been organized in collaboration with various other groups and projects including, for example, GMIT, NAIRTL, FIN.

Abstracts:

Abstracts are now invited for posters on topics relevant to the symposium themes of Higher Education Curriculum, Assessment, Course Design, and the Bologna process.  Accepted posters will be on display throughout the two-day event.

Abstracts of not more than 400 words, written in English, should be submitted by email to celtconfnuigalway.ie on or before May 15th, 2009.

The abstract should be saved as a Word or pdf document and emailed as an attachment.  The file should be named as ‘Surname_Abstract’. If you have any queries please email celtconfnuigalway.ie
