The NDLR's purpose is “to promote and support Higher Education sector staff in the collaboration, development and sharing of digital learning resources and associate teaching practices”.

The NDLR funds a number of small scale projects at NUI Galway under the Innovation Scheme (view the Innovation 2011 and the Innovation 2012 winners). Innovation winners go on to display their projects at a poster exhibition during the annual NDLR Fest.
The NDLR hosts a digital repository of resources online, which may be reused and shared under the Creative Commons Licence. To view, share or add to these resources, simply visit

An annual event, The NDLR Fest's aim is to showcase the wide array of free technology enhanced learning resources that have been generated across all subject disciplines in the Irish HE sector as well as celebrating the cooperative and collaborative process in which these resources have been developed, used and reused.
The NDLR Fest 2012, was held on the 2nd May in the Croke Park Conference Centre. This year's Fest was launched by
Sean Sherlock TD,
Minister of State, Department of Enterprise, Jobs & Innovation and Department of Education & Skills with responsibility for Research & Innovation, and also welcomed
Professor Martin Curley, Intel, as Keynote speaker.
