The President's Awards for Teaching Excellence recognise the outstanding efforts academic staff make to ensure NUI Galway students receive the highest quality learning experience.
In 2010-2011, the panel considered 19 individual nominations and 2 team nominations for the President’s Awards for Teaching Excellence, each demonstrating excellence. The high standard of all the submissions was noted.
Each nomination was considered and discussed by the panel. The result of the discussion was a recommendation that 5 awards be given this year, to the following candidates, in alphabetical order:
The awards were presented by the President at the conferring ceremonies in October and November, 2011.
The Awards Panel consisted of senior staff in the University including the President, the Registrar, the Dean of the College of Engineering and Informatics, the Dean of the College of Arts, Social Sciences and Celtic Studies, the Director of Quality, the Assistant Director of CELT, another member of academic staff, the Education Officer of the Students' Union, and an external colleague, Prof. Áine Hyland (former Vice President UCC and Professor in Education).
