The President's Awards for Teaching Excellence recognise the outstanding efforts academic staff make to ensure NUI Galway students receive the highest quality learning experience.
In 2011-2012, the panel considered 27 individual nominations and 5 team nominations for the President’s Awards for Teaching Excellence, each demonstrating excellence.
The high standard of all the submissions was noted.
Each nomination was considered and discussed by the panel. The result of the discussion was a recommendation that 5 awards be given this year, to the following candidates, in alphabetical order:

"Inspirational teaching has always been a key feature of the learning experience at NUI Galway. Indeed, since these awards have been established, five of the winners have gone on to national recognition receiving Awards from National Academy for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (NAIRTL) for the quality of their teaching.
Teaching and research are both central to the role of academic staff and excellence in teaching and in creative and scholarly work go hand in hand. I am delighted to honour these outstanding teachers who will be presented with their Awards during the Autumn and Winter conferring ceremonies.
I know that you will join with me in congratulating the winners and in working together to foster teaching excellence throughout our University"
