Pilar Alderete	Languages, Literatures and Cultures	To improve the student learning experience, for students studying beginners' Spanish, while simultaneously improving course delivery by designing and delivering didital materials in adherence with the European Language Framework guidelines, while also incorporating elements of the European Language Portfolio.	€3,000	NDLR
Sandra Bunting	Academic Writing Centre	To produce a 5 minutes film on the importance of writing well. Students will write, act, direct and produce the film under the guidance of a facilitator, leading to an increase in the level of awareness of good writing.	€1,500	NDLR
Marguerita McGovern, Anne Byrne	Political Science and Sociology	To purchase voice recorders and video recorders to enhance the delivery of new e-learning components on three programmes via Blackboard. The use of the technology will also enhance student engagement. The pedagogical approach is based on group work, service learning, active learning, e-learning, field work and conference attendance, enabling undergraduate and post-graduate research and staff-student research.	€2,300	NAIRTL
Catherine Cronin	Information Technology	To create a collection of online resources with the aim of increasing the awareness and skill levels of Computing/Engineering students in the areas of Writing, Referencing and Avoiding Plagiarism (WRAP). WRAP resources will be applicable to writing both technical prose and software code, and will be available from a single web page or portal.	€1,750	NDLR
Andrew Flaus	Natural Sciences	To make Chemical aspects of Biochemistry more accessible and engaging for students using active and kinesthetic activities, thereby improving student engagement and learning. Anticipated outputs include a set of reusable video podcasts suitable for submission to NDLR and video hosting sites. A small bank of clicker questions will also be made available online.	€1,650	NDLR
Margaret McGrath, Aideen Gallagher	Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences	To develop and evaluate an innovative self-instructional difital learning resource which will facilitate healthcare students to develop basic wheelchair skills. The researchers plan to produce an evidence based interactive learning tool, founded in bast practice to enable students independently learn skills for practice at their own pace.	€4,200	NDLR
John Morrissey	Geography and Archaeology	To set up student meetings with community leaders and development practitioners on the ground in Sarajevo, Bosnia. To pre-arrange various field surveying, mapping, interviews and focus groups with partners working in Sarajevo. To coordinate an important 'reporting back' process in which students present their participatory research to various international and NDO agencies involved.	€2,000	CKI
Stephen Nash	Engineering and Informatics	To redesign an existing second year module in elementary hydrolics to facilitate peer instruction. The primary objective of the proposed project is to design a set of concept questions for the teaching elementary hydrolics.	€2,000	NDLR
Lynn O'Connor	School of Medicine, College of Science	To develop science-based iPod/iPad applications for use by teachers and pupils alike in second level schools, designed to complement the Leaving and Junior Cert curriculum and also laboratory based experiments designed for junior students with a view to generating and excitement in science. Our students must learn, understand and build the experiments from scratch and then develop methods to transfer that knowledge to the students at different learning stages.	€2,000	CKI
