Welcome to TEDxGalway

The first TEDxGalway was held on Friday June 11th 2010 on the campus of NUI Galway and attendees were treated to a range of fascinating presentations and performances spanning aspects of Irish culture to the latest scientific research, celebrating the diversity of intellectual and cultural life in this small but vibrant city.

All the presentations were recorded and uploaded to the TEDxTalks youtube site and can be accessed from this site (click on ‘speakers’). The organisers would like to thank all those who rose to the challenge of conveying their passion and interests in an 18 minute slot, setting a very high standard for future events.

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

Our event is called TEDxGalway, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxGalway event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
