Course Overview

The Postgraduate Diploma in Academic Practice is a part time, 30 ECTs programme, aimed to help you develop your practice in your academic roles. The programme offers a professional qualification in academic practice for staff at NUI Galway, and is designed to be flexibile, research-informed and practice-based.  Successful participants will receive a Postgraduate Diploma in Academic Practice.  You can find more information on the individual modules .

Please note that if you have already registered an interest previously in any of these courses or modules, we would still appreciate it if you could complete this new registration form so that we can finalise numbers and arrangements as soon as possible. Where modules or programmes are oversubscribed we will select applicants on the basis of a number of criteria and so it is important to answer the various short questions on the form.

Entry Requirements

Entry to the Postgraduate Diploma in Academic Practice is open to those who have successfully completed the requirements for the award of the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.   Applicants with equivalent qualifications obtained from other institutions may also be considered by the Course Committee, but such candidates will be required to provide a detailed Teaching Portfolio matching the format and standards of the current NUI Galway course.  It is possible to take individual modules without necessarilly undertaking the full Diploma.  Please contact the Programme Co-ordinator to discuss this.
