SEAN-NÓS SINGER/dancer IN RESIDENCE
The appointment of Sean-nós Singers and Dancers in Residence represents the dynamic connection between the University and its Irish-speaking hinterland by recognising
sean-nós song and dance as highly developed art forms that are particularly strong in the Connemara Gaeltacht.
Choreographer Ríonach Ní Néill was appointed Galway Dancer in Residence in 2010 in a scheme initiated by the Arts Council, and supported by Galway County Council/City Council Arts Offices, the Town Hall Theatre, and the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) Centre for Irish Studies, where she is a member of the Ómós Áite seminar group
(and Geography Department).
