Michelle Comber is a graduate of the Department of Archaeology, National University of Ireland, Galway, having completed her primary degree in 1994 and Masters degree in 1996. Her research interests lie mainly in the archaeology of Ireland’s Early Historic period (approx. 5th to 12th century AD), especially its fine metalwork (the subject of her M.A. thesis), economy and settlement. She has completed her doctoral research on the subject of ringforts and settlement economy. She has lectured in both NUI, Galway, and St. Angela’s College, Sligo, on the settlement forms and crafts of the Early Historic period, and the Viking and Anglo-Norman archaeology of Ireland
