Medicinal Chemistry Cluster

This cluster focuses on the development of new bio-materials and new anti-cancer and anti-cholesterol drugs

BIO-MATERIALS
Biomaterials researchers are investigating the use of materials which will be important in biomedicine:
(1) Tthe effects of various surface treatments on the corrosion and stability of Nitinol in body fluid environments is being examined..
(2) Polymers and composites which have potential for use in new devices are being synthesised and characterized .

NEW DRUGS
Drugs of the following types are being developed:
(1) Anti-cancer drugs
Design of drugs which target slowly dividing cells
Metal based anti-cancer compounds

(2) Anti Cholesterol drugs
