Current research interests include (1) design and development of smart stimulus-responsive biomaterials for cytotechnology and drug delivery; (2) characterization of biomaterials and medical devices at the nano- and micro-scale level; (3) cell-biomaterial interactions, fundamental aspects of biocompatibility. I have co-authored more than 120 journal articles, book chapters, conference and workshops abstracts and papers. I am actively involved in several national and international collaborative research projects in biomaterials and tissue engineering. I am also heavily involved in a number of industrial research collaborations, including a major collaborative research program with Boston Scientific Ireland.
