The third bi-annual Irish Inorganic Chemistry Symposium was held at NUI Galway on Friday the 7th of December, 2012. This free of charge meeting comprised oral contributions from two special guest plenary speakers (Professor Stuart James of Queens University Belfast and Professor Mike Ward of the University of Sheffield), newly appointed academics and PDRAs alongside poster contributions from both PhD students and PDRAs.
This one day conference provided a highly interdisciplinary forum for discussion of novel advances in the following areas of Inorganic chemistry:
Solvent-free synthesis (via mechanochemistry)
Molecular Nanomagnets
Lanthanide and Actinide Coordination Chemistry
Coordination Chemistry of Calix[n]arenes
Self-Assembly of Supramolecular Cages and their Host-Guest Properties
The organizing committee would like to thank all speakers, chairs and delegates for their attendance. Please click on the link below for photos taken during this excellent symposium.
Registration is now closed for this event.

The registration and all tea / coffee / poster sessions will be located in the Orbsen Atrium (Orbsen Building-see map links below). All presentations will be held in the Dillon Theatre, School of Chemistry. There will be plenty of signs (and volunteers) to assist you in moving from the registration to the conference venue.
If you are driving to the venue there are a small number of parking permits available. Simply email me (
leigh.jones
nuigalway.ie) and I will send you the official permit. These permits are for the car park in the Dangan area of the university (
see map below for directions) and should be used as part of the
Park and Ride scheme. Buses are every 15 minutes and the last stop at the university is directly outside the registration venue (
Orbsen atrium).
