Dr. Brian Donnellan is a lecturer in Information Systems at NUI Galway. His PhD was titled Knowledge Management Systems for New Product Development?. His research interests lie primarily in the area of knowledge management systems, a broad area which encompasses the use of information systems to support knowledge management, innovation, new product development, and technology management. He has been successful in a number of research funding proposals from the Irish government and the EU. He is currently actively involved in a two-year
(2004-2005) STREP project under the EU FP6 programme. The consortium aims at introducing, analysing, and supporting the use of Open Data Standards (ODS) and Open Source (OS) software for personal productivity and document management in European Public Administrations and comprises universities and public administrations in Ireland, Italy, UK, Denmark, Belgium and Hungary.
Brian Donnellan has spent 20 years working in industry. His most recent position was in Analog Devices Inc. (ADI), the European R&D centre of a U.S. electronics company with headquarters in Boston. While at ADI his responsibilities included management of the Knowledge Management Business Process and management of engineering computer services for New Product Development Teams.
