Strategic Turnarounds, Restructuring, Leadership, Principal Investigators and Academic Entrepreneurship
Conor O’Kane is undertaking his postdoctoral research on an IRCHSS (Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences) funded collaboration project between Dublin Institute of Technology and NUI Galway. The focus of this research project is on appraising the contributions and effectiveness of principal investigators in their delivery of publicly funded research. Conor completed his PhD in NUI Galway in 2008. This research employed four in-depth case studies to examine the role of top management leaders at different stages of the company turnaround process. During the PhD process Conor’s work was presented at a number of top standard conferences including the American Academy of Management 2007, the Strategic Management Society 2006, and the British Academy of Management 2005 and 2006. He also won two best paper awards at the Irish Academy of Management. Prior to this position, Conor worked in industry for a year in a business development and strategic advisory role for one of Ireland’s leading entrepreneurs. Conor also completed an MBS on Corporate Strategy and People Management at NUI Galway, as well as an undergraduate degree in Business Information Systems in University College Cork.
