Technology Transfer, Innovation, Innovation Networks
Dr Laura Martinez-Solano completed her Ph.D. at the University of Cardiff in 2002, and joined CISC as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Industrial Clustering group at NUI Galway in October. Dr Martinez-Solano had received an M.Sc. in Manufacturing Management from the University of Bradford, and completed a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering at the University of Mexico. Dr Martinez-Solano's Ph.D. thesis examines the contribution of European Foreign Direct Investment to the Mexican economy, with special reference to the issue of technology transfer. A range of issues are raised in this study, including the distinct patterns of transfer relating to 'know how' technologies and 'know why' technologies, and their differential consequences for sustainable economic development. Dr Martinez-Solano's research work experience has included policy analysis relating to economic development strategy at the National Assembly for Wales. Dr Martinez is currently working as Applied Lead Investigator in the Warwick Manufacturing Group at the University of Warwick.
