Dr Mark White completed his Ph.D. at the University of Miami in 2002 and joined CISC as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Internationally Traded Services group at NUI Galway in October. His M.A. in Geography is from Syracuse University, New York and he received a B.A. in Geography from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. His Ph.D. dissertation examined the 'embeddedness' of software and financial services multinationals in Dublin, this was supported by the award of a National Science Foundation grant to undertake fieldwork in Dublin. Dr White is pursuing an interest in examining the decentralisation of software and financial services firms outside Dublin, and in exploring the oft-quote cultural connections between Ireland and the United States, especially with respect to their use in promoting inward investment in Ireland.
