Will joined CISC as a recipient of a Ph.D. Studentship in the Industrial Clustering group at NUI Galway in December 2003, having previously worked as a research assistant and part-time lecturer in the Department of Management at NUI Galway. Will Geoghegan's MBS thesis at NUI Galway examined the Key Success Factors involved in Strategic Repositioning. This was preceded by the award of B.Comm. (Int.) degree, with Spanish taken as a major and Marketing studied as a secondary subject. His PhD, is centred around the area of Industry / University Collaboration and the Innovative Capabilities that emerge from such ventures. It marries three of the research fields of particular interest i.e. that of strategic management, the entrepreneurial university and innovation.
During the course of Will’s academic career to date, he has published papers in international peer reviewed journals, written book chapters, presented at international conferences and written course books for external learning courses in the areas of innovation, and technology transfer. He has also worked in the Department of Management as a lecturer in strategy (fixed term).

This module written for the blended learning BSc introduced students to the core tenets of scientific thought, industrial waves and innovation. It began by discussing the history of science before progressing to concentrate on each of the Kondratiev waves of industrial development. It then emphasised innovation, introducing the topic before detailing the various guises that innovation can represent, from innovation systems to invention and creativity. It comprised roughly 300 pages.
This 200 page module was written for an MSc in Technology Management and explored the various aspects of the strategic management literature. It questioned what is strategy, it highlighted various basics in strategic management such as the external environment, strategic capability and the strategies available at various levels, from functional to corporate.
This introductory 150-page text written for blended learning Bachelor of Commerce students concentrated on entrepreneurship and new enterprise development. It gives the student an understanding of what type of people entrepreneurs are and also gives them the basics behind functional aspects such as financing and the business plan.
