The aim of this seminar is to raise awareness of some of the issues and challenges facing postgraduate research students in the presentation of their work amongst an international audience. The seminar will consider the communication of complex ideas, the difference between presentation and performance, and the engagement of researchers in and of a community of practice.
Biography:
Dr Gillian Green is a Reader in Business Technologies in the School of Business and Creative Technologies at the University of Bolton. She is the coordinator of the doctoral school. She has worked for The University of Durham, University of Sunderland and Northumbria University with a domain focus on Information systems and research methods. Her current research interests are in the area of open source software initiatives, SMEs, organisational learning and music and creative industries. She is the Treasurer of UKAIS (UK Academy of Information Systems).
Target Audience:
All postgraduate research students incl. PhD students, research masters students, post-doctoral fellows, and early career academics.
