Dr. Mia Gray, Department of Geography, University of Cambridge, UK
| SAC Room / Room 110, Cairnes Building (Ground Floor, St. Anthony's), NUI Galway | 1.00pm :: 16th October 2012 |
Mia Gray’s Bio: My research is on the socially embedded and spatial nature of labour markets. Within that I'm interested in inequality, particularly that based on gender and ethnicity; informalisation of labour markets; and institutions of the labour market, such as unions and staffing agenicies. I am a geographer at Cambridge University. I am also very involved in the University of Cambridge Centre for Gender Studies, where I sit on the management committee and the advisory board. I also co-edit the Cambridge Journal of Regions, Economy and Society, which highlights mutli-disciplinary international research on the spatial dimensions of contemporary socio-economic-political change.
