Andrea Costa is a graduate from the Politecnico di Milano where he obtained a BSc (Eng) in Building Engineering in 2005.
He then continued his academic career at the same university in Italy and was awarded a summa cum laude Masters of Science degree in Building Engineering in 2007. During the master degree programme, he was awarded an Erasmus Scholarship and studied at University College Cork in the academic year 2005/2006.
After the MSc he started a PhD programme under the supervision of Dr. Marcus Keane at the Civil Engineering Department at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
Andrea was awarded a PhD in Engineering in 2010 for his research on providing support to the energy manager in improving the building operation strategy with considerations on building energy use and occupant comfort.
He is funded by Enterprise Ireland to work on the BuildWise research project and he is also official observer of the European project Building EQ.
As a part of his research, he worked as a guest researcher at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California (US) for 5 months in 2008.
Andrea is a qualified chartered engineer and building energy rating (BER) assessor in Italy. |
