Tomas Canny, Structural Engineer “Since graduating with a B.E. in Civil Engineering from NUI Galway in 2007, I have been working full time in a Consulting Engineering firm first as a graduate, and now as a design engineer, mainly in the field of Structural Engineering. I really enjoyed my time in Galway, both the city and the university itself. Galway is a young city, with a very friendly atmosphere, and lots for students to do. The University has numerous clubs and societies, which are great craic and fun places to meet people. The Civil Engineering course at NUI Galway is varied, interesting, and has a great reputation with employers. The range of subjects within the course allows for a wide variety of careers following university. I feel the course allowed me to get the job I really wanted, and in these difficult economic times, set me up with the skills necessary to adapt and capitalise on emerging fields.
