Teaching Interests

  • I teach Latin and Greek to undergrads and postgrads from beginners to advanced.
  • On the undergraduate Classics course I also teach Greek history (Classical period), Roman literature (esp. Virgil, Horace, Persius, Juvenal), ancient rhetoric, and Late Antique cultural history. I have previously given courses on ancient writing and literacy, Romance linguistics, Celtic mythology and early Irish literature.
  • My MA seminars are generally themed around literacy, education and rhetoric in Antiquity and the early Middle Ages. I have supervised MA theses on early Roman origin myths, Pelagius' commentary on Galatians, and Neo-Platonism in Hiberno-Latin exegesis.
