The Higher Diploma is a Level 8 programme designed as a gateway to postgraduate research in Archaeology (MA, MLitt) for students with primary degrees in subjects other than Archaeology, and students who have a diploma in Archaeology. It is a contemporary programme of desk-based and experiential learning, the structure and contents of which equip the student with core knowledge and skills in the discipline necessary to become an advocate for heritage in your community.  It especially sets the student up to research and write an original piece of work on the archaeology of a place in the Irish landscape, to present that research to the public, demonstrate knowledge of the sources and methods that support archaeological research, and create a research project design.
