Biography

<< As an economic geographer I am interested spatial distribution of wealth. More specifically my work is concerned with how different places offer different opportunities, by the financial, social or cultural. How we 'make' places is a key determinant of our quality of life. My research extends from analysis of the location decisions of foreign direct investments in the technology sector to how we make the places we live in unique.  >>

Teaching Interests

As a teacher, I abide by the ethos that to teach is to engage students in learning; this teaching consists of getting students involved in the active construction of knowledge. Students do so by engaging, with other students and with the teacher, in a process of inquiry, critical discourse and problem solving. I have been lecturing under this ethos in Higher Education in both the UK and Ireland for the past 12 years.
