Master of Arts in Classics

The MA programme aims to develop and professionalise the skills and knowledge base of the student who has already gained a good knowledge of Antiquity and wishes to orient him/herself towards research and independent enquiry.

The central focus of the taught programme is on each student’s work towards their independent dissertation. From the beginning of the first semester, students direct their seminar work towards the subject area of their intended dissertation, and after assignment to a supervisor each student will work closely on a series of assignments directed at the chosen topic, with a first draft submitted by the end of the second semester and space given over to independent work on finalisation in the summer months.

Visit the University's Courses Page for information on how to apply, entry requirements, career options and assessment.
