Two staff members of the J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics, Gerard Turley and Maureen Maloney, have just completed the fourth edition of the highly successful textbook in economics, Principles of Economics: An Irish Text. Co-authored with Francis O' Toole of Trinity College Dublin, this third-level textbook was first written in 1997, and specifically for the university and IT market in Ireland. The fourth edition incorporates many contemporary issues in economics, including reflections on the post Celtic Tiger years, the economic downturn caused by the international recession, the banking crisis and the property crash, and the latest on the eurozone and sovereign debt crisis.
