 Please be advised of the following module code and name changes:

 AY206 Financial Accounting I – changed to: AY209 International Financial Reporting I

AY305 Financial Accounting II – changed to: AY325 International Financial Reporting II

AY309 Financial Accounting III – changed to: AY326 International Financial Reporting III

Students should note that for the purposes of exemptions from professional examinations that the newly named modules replace the old modules for the purposes of attaining exemptions from all of the professional bodies. In any instance where there is a reference to the old module name or code the new names and codes above apply.

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) 

• Graduates of the B.Comm (Accounting) are exempt from all nine papers at the “Fundamentals” stage of the ACCA examinations. Therefore, in order to complete the examinations for the ACCA qualification, graduates of the B.Comm (Accounting)  only need to complete the five papers at the final (“Professional”) stage.
• Graduates of the B.Comm and B.Comm. (International) who graduated in 2011 or earlier should check the exemptions enquiry database on the ACCA website ( http://www.accaglobal.com/ ) to see exactly which exemptions they are eligible for..For example, someone who graduated between 1^st January 2006 and 31^st December 2011 would be eligible for the following exemptions:

AND: The paper(s) listed below will be exempted on the basis of the corresponding accredited modules.

• Graduates of the B.Comm and B.Comm. (International) graduating in 2012 or later: ACCA reaccredits all degree programs for exemption purposes once every five years. The reaccreditation process for the B.Comm and B.Comm. (International) is scheduled to begin shortly and typically takes several months, with the outcome likely being known in February or March 2012.

Irish Taxation Institute exemptions

The Irish Taxation Institute may grant exemptions from certain subjects where applicants have successfully

completed other examinations of an equivalent standard. A list of recognised exemptions is set out below.

Exemptions are valid for four consecutive sittings from the date of notification. After this time the exemption will

be deemed to have expired and the student can no longer rely on it.

You must ensure that you have received confirmation of exemptions granted prior to registering for continuous

assessment and examinations. You will not be registered for continuous assessment and examinations or be

issued with your examination number until you have received notification of your exemption entitlement in

writing.

Exemption Application Deadline

• Deadline for summer examinations: 30 November 2010
• Deadline for autumn examinations: 13 May 2011

Applicants should refer to page 14 regarding entry requirements.

Each applicant is responsible for ensuring they are aware of the relevant deadline for applying for examinations

and ensuring that their application for exemptions is submitted on time.

Applicants are required to submit an official transcript from the awarding body, which must include the

applicant’s name and the date on which the examinations were passed. Internet printouts are not acceptable.
