The J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics has, in recent years, become increasingly aware of the need to put in place appropriate support services and support structures to meet the needs of students in today’s complex university environment. A new post, the Student School Advisor, has been established to develop a new School-wide system for student advice. The objectives of this initiative are to enhance the student experience and increase retention. The role of the Advisor is as follows:

·         To support and advise students through the development of a student advice facility

·         To support student engagement with the School's programmes of study

·         To provide study skills advice and learning support to students

·         To assess student needs
