(Language of instruction: English)

Learning Outcomes
  1. Describe the project participants in a civil engineering project and explain their respective roles
  2. List the contract documents required in tendering for a civil engineering project
  3. Identify and describe measures needed to ensure health and safety on site
  4. Correctly assemble a level and a theodolite and know when to adjust the settings of both instruments to ensure that they give accurate readings. Learn how two use both pieces of equipment.
  5. Use a theodolite to carry out a traverse survey and calculate included angles, whole circle bearings and station co-ordinates from field measurements
  6. Compute closing errors in a traverse survey and thereby appreciate the unavoidable error that is part of surveying.
  7. Produce a drawing of a surveyed area.
  8. Work effectively as a member of a team, as is done in surveying practicals.
  9. Enhanced learning in practical aspects of the profession such as Estimates and Costings.
  10. Understand the interaction between architects, civil engineers and other related professions.
  11. Examine the basic principles of architecture, planning, sustainability and the considerations and common challenges involved in successful design
