This Third Year module introduces students to core concepts and practices in the field of applied theatre which includes but is not limited to educational theatre, Theatre for Social Change and community arts/theatre. Students will examine case studies and the work of leading practitioners from different areas within this broad field. They will also develop plans for their own Applied Theatre projects.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Identify key working methods and genres in the practice of applied theatre.
  2. Analyse key debates over ethics and collaboration in this field of practice.
  3. Propose a framework for their own independent applied theatre project.
  4. Develop presentation skills.
  5. Learn how to lead exercises and structure basic workshops in specific areas of Applied Theatre.
  6. Interrogate the role of the faciliator in applied theatre work.
