Course Modules
DT4104: Theatre in Translation
Semester 1 | Credits: 5
This module explores issues of cultural transfer through translation in theatrical performances. By means of thematic case study using textual and recorded visual materials, students will examine productions of Anglophone plays translated into other languages and non-Anglophone plays translated into English. Canonical plays will be studied along with more recent contemporary dramas. These plays will be considered and critiqued in relation to a range of cultural and performance theories.

- Display knowledge of the theory and practice of dramatic translation.
- Display knowledge of major figures in non-Anglophone drama.
- Display awareness of theory and practice of translation and adaptation.
