ECS203: Psychology: The Developing Child 2

Learning Outcomes
- In-depth knowledge of the patterns of holistic development of children from 2 ½ years and older
- Awareness of the overall holistic needs in the older child
- In-depth knowledge and understanding child development theories in relation to pre-school and school aged children
- In-depth knowledge of atypical development in children (2.5-8) including atypical development with a later onset
- Ability to carry out and record in-depth observations of children (2.5-8)
- Ability to use recorded observations and reflection on practice to develop long-term and short-term objectives and plans for the holistic development of individual children
- Ability to plan a child-centred environment drawing on and integrating a wide variety of ECCE skills and knowledge
- Describe the value of play based programmes for children of all ages and developmental stages
- Ability to communicate and demonstrate the links between ECCE theory and practice
- In-depth understanding of the role of adults in supporting the holistic development of children, particularly within childcare settings
