FS101: Introduction to Film Studies I: Form

This module provides an introduction to Film Studies and the analysis of film texts. Topics covered include miss-en-scene; narrative; sound; costume and production design; narrative and genre.

Learning Outcomes
- Illustrate an understanding of key concepts in Film Studies.
- Demonstrate independent critical judgement and analytical skills in relation to critiquing film and to apply this to both their academic and film review writings.
- Demonstrate specialised knowledge of selected film genres and film cycles.
- Evaluate film as a social and cultural document.
