Learning Outcomes
- Students will become aware of the developments – technical, social and cultural – that led to the emergence of moving pictures at the end of the nineteenth century.
- Students will be able to identify and discuss key and discuss film movements, texts, figures (directors & stars) from the pre-sound era
- Students will be able to independently research the silent era using digital archives and resources
- Students will develop skills in writing about, and presenting on, cinema of the silent era
