Learning Outcomes
  1. Students will become aware of the developments – technical, social and cultural – that led to the emergence of moving pictures at the end of the nineteenth century.
  2. Students will be able to identify and discuss key and discuss film movements, texts, figures (directors & stars) from the pre-sound era
  3. Students will be able to independently research the silent era using digital archives and resources
  4. Students will develop skills in writing about, and presenting on, cinema of the silent era
