GR317: Legal German
Semester 1 and Semester 2 | Credits: 10
The Final Year Legal German course is designed to develop the ability to express ideas and argue convincingly in oral and written German. Focusing on contemporary legal, social and political issues, the module develops transferable skills, in particular presentation skills, text analysis and written expression.

Learning Outcomes
- express ideas and argue convincingly in both oral and written German.
- create a podcast an on aspect of the Erasmus Year.
- deliver a presentation in German on an aspect of the German legal system or on a specific German law.
- create a video on an aspect of Irish-German relations.
- read, understand and comment upon texts dealing with legal, social and political issues in contemporary Germany.
- describe and analyse developments in German law, in particular in the areas of federalism, data protection, citizenship and immigration laws, and property law.
- compare and contrast the German and Irish legal systems.
- describe the final year at university, the Erasmus year, and career plans.
