HP501: Occupational Health
Semester 1 and Semester 2 | Credits: 10
The course aims to provide students with information in relation to the principles and practice of occupational and environmental health and how they can be applied in a working environment.
(Language of instruction: English)
Learning Outcomes
- 1.Explain the role of occupational and environmental health in protecting the health and safety of workers and the community.
- 2. Assess and manage health issues arising from exposure to physical, chemical, psychological and ergonomic hazards within the workplace.
- 3. Select and evaluate available and current sources of occupational health and environmental health information to utilise in practice.
- 4. Analyse relevant legislative requirements that influence occupational and enviromental health practice.
- 5. Design and implement appropriate occupational health management techniques to reduce risk to tolerable levels within the organisation.
- 6. Apply the principles of workplace health promotion.
- 7. Synthesize knowledge of health psychology for occupational and environmental health management.
