The aim of this module is to introduce students to the fundamental principles of law, to enable them to understand the importance of law in society and particulary, its relevance to their work in business. This will first require an understanding of the Irish Legal System and the impact of E.U. law. The course will focus on the law of contract and Sale of Goods law.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Explain the sources of law in the Irish legal system
  2. Outline the court system and the legal system in Ireland and the European Union in general
  3. Understand the sources of European Union Law and the institutions of the European Union
  4. Explain and apply the principles of contract law, including: -the basic rules of formation of a contract -the necessary elements to render a contract legally enforceable; -significant terms of a contract; and -the methods of discharge
  5. Explain and apply the legal rules governing the sale of goods
