Criminal law represents a major effort on the part of the State, and consumes a considerable portion of State resources. It is also a core element of any law degree. Criminal law is that part of the law in which criminal activity is defined, and the rules by which criminal liability is attributed are set out. This module focuses on the rules of criminal liability – its principal objective is to explain the manner in which Irish law constructs criminal liability.
