MS217: Information and Operations Management
Semester 2 | Credits: 5
This module is designed to give students exposure to a broad enterprise information and operations management education relevant to a modern business degree. The module explores the challenges facing businesses in a global extended enterprise, and introduces a number of tools and processes that businesses use to retain competitive advantage and maintain profitably. To tackle the challenge of managing enterprise operations, firms are leveraging and deploying information and infrastructural resources to exploit business opportunities. As much work is now open, decentralised and distributed, firms increasingly rely on Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) to improve communication flows between central organisational hubs and distributed virtual teams. This module explains how firms are managing business processes and enabling innovation with the use of complex technology architectures.
