Course Modules
MV505: Old High & Middle High German
Semester 1 and Semester 2 | Credits: 10
This module introduces students to Old High & Middle High German as used during the European Middle Ages. Students will gradually become acquainted with their grammar and vocabulary, and develop reading skills with the aim of acquiring enough knowledge to be able to access basic Old & Middle HIgh German texts in their original form. No previous knowledge of Old High or Middle High German is expected but students will need to have a grounding (Level A2.2 or higher) in modern German. Offered subject to availability and demand.

Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge of the foundations of the grammar and vocabulary of Old High & Middle High German
- Read and translate simple texts in Old High & Middle High German in their original form
- Develop the metaskills needed to develop reading competency in a foreign language.
