Course Modules
MV509: Medieval & Middle French
Semester 1 and Semester 2 | Credits: 10
This module introduces students to Old & Middle French as used primarily in France during the European Middle Ages. Students will gradually become acquainted with their grammar and vocabulary, and develop reading skills with the aim of acquiring enough knowledge to be able to
access basic Old and/or Middle French texts in their original form. Texts for study will be selected based on the students' interests and needs. No previous knowledge of Old or
Middle French is expected. Offered subject to availability and demand.

Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge of the foundations of the grammar and vocabulary of Old & Middle French
- Read and translate simple texts in Old and/or Middle French in their original form
- Understand and use a wide range of grammatical terminology
