NU6568: Competency Assessment 3
Semester 1 | Credits: 0
The aim of this module is to enable the student to meet the competencies which include knowledge, skills and professional behaviours in midwifery practice as outlined by the NMBI (2016, 2017) relevant to the second part of the Higher diploma in Midwifery programme.
This module will enable students to further develop their midwifery skills in the reality of the practice setting. Students will participate in the provision of woman and baby-centred care in the antenatal, intra-natal and postnatal areas and may include Community Midwifery. This will also include caring for the woman at risk. Placement may also include allocation to Gynaecology, Theatre and Recovery and the Neonatal Unit.

Learning Outcomes
- On successful completion of this module the student should gain clinical experience enabling them to meet requirements of the Competency Assessment Framework (ABA 2005) in the following domains: Professional/Ethical Midwifery Practice Holistic Midwifery Care Interpersonal Relationships Organisation and Co-Ordination of Midwifery Care Personal and Professional Development
