This module will explore the diversity of the practice of Podiatry within various healthcare and educational settings, highlighting the wealth of opportunities available for the graduate preparing to enter the workforce.

Learning Outcomes
  1. Be cognisant with the scope of practice of podiatrists in the Republic of Ireland and internationally, and demonstrate an awareness of professional autonomy & accountability.
  2. Interpret professional responsibilities and competencies for practice and their role in the overall delivery of a quality health service.
  3. Evaluate the routes of continuous professional development, maintain a record of professional development and show awareness of the obligation to maintain fitness to practice, to keep skills and knowledge up to date and engage in career-long learning.
  4. Analyse the current market for private practice; construct marketing strategies and identify potential funding opportunities.
  5. Communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms in preparation for the workplace.
  6. Design a comprehensive business plan that addresses key components for maintaining a successful private podiatry practice.
