This module explores the nature of youth work as found in contemporary Ireland today. It provides students with a theoretical basis on which to understand this kind of work while also working with them in a number of practical, facilitation type exercises.

  1. Discuss the principles, values and definitions of youth work
  2. Understand the theoretical perspectives of youth work and the implications of these perspectives in terms of practice
  3. Explore the various models of youth work practice
  4. Select appropriate planning and delivery tools for effective youth work practice
