Blackboard
Blackboard is a web-based software system which is used to support flexible teaching and learning in face-to-face and distance courses. It provides tools and facilities for online course management, content management and sharing, assessment management, and online collaboration and communication. It is an e-learning platform which allows for the sharing of course information, ideas and documents.
Essentially Blackboard takes a number of services that may normally be delivered individually (discussion forums, web sites etc.), and unites them in a single site that can be referred to as a course page. The course page provides students with a menu in the form of a series of buttons from which specific areas of the course can be accessed.

Blackboard requires a live Internet connection. For minimum acceptable performance Blackboard recommends at least a 56K modem connection, although it can be accessed with slower connections (although you may experience problem with a 28K modem connection).
A monitor capable of at least 800x600 resolution. For best performance, access Blackboard at 1024x768 resolution or higher. Blackboard can be accessed at lower resolutions (such as 640x480); although at low resolutions scroll bars may interfere with the interface.
As a Web-based application, Blackboard itself has no minimum hardware requirements for your computer. However, since Blackboard does require a 4.0 browser or better, you should refer to the minimum hardware requirements for your browser.
