Blended Learning
The part-time Bachelor of Commerce is delivered using blended learning techniques, which allow mature students, with work and family commitments, to study at times that suit their needs. Blended learning refers to a learning experience that combines classroom and online forms of learning (mixing traditional and distance learning). Participants have access to course details and content at all times, from any location in Ireland.
Instruction: Friday afternoon and Saturday workshops and online delivery methods.
Nature of
contact: Lectures and tutorials, discussion board, online collaboration, e-mail and telephone.
Contact time: Students will attend the University for eight workshops per academic year.
On-line support:
Available on a daily basis.
Blended learning makes up the “
fastest growing use of technologies in learning—much faster then the development of online courses.” (Alvarez, 2005)
There is a higher completion rate for students in blended learning classrooms than to those in strictly e-learning situations. (Flavin, 2001)
