Course Outline
This part-time course, run in partnership with the National Youth Council of Ireland, takes place over one academic year, starting in September and finishing in May, with 15 contact teaching days (5 blocks of 3 days) in Dublin. The course aims to provide students with a professional education and training in the principles and practice of health promotion.
Students take a generic module - Foundations of Health Promotion, a specialist youth health module – which includes content on young people and health behaviour, and the settings approach to health promotion. A practical project is the final component which involves the development of an organisational health promotion strategy.
