About us
The Centre for Adult Learning and Professional Development aims to advance the lifelong learning needs of adult learners. The Centre provides for the continuing professional development needs of our region through the delivery of up-skilling opportunities to people who want to take modules on a standalone basis. We serve four groups of people: professionals who wish to upskill; employers who want to develop the skills of their staff; professional bodies that manage accreditation for their members; and course coordinators who deliver training.
We are located in Nuns’ Island on the south campus of NUI Galway, and have a cross-campus remit to liaise between industry, University staff and learners, and contribute to reaching the aims of the National Skills Strategy. Led by Dr Brían Ó Donnchadha, a wide network of key personnel is focused on encouraging economic and social development through lifelong learning. Brían draws from his experience in the private and public sector, both in administrative and academic roles to facilitate the development of skills needed in the Western region. For all queries on Continuing Professional Development please contact Brían directly.
