How do I apply for a module?

Go to the CPD Modules webpage and select your module of interest. You can select the ‘APPLY NOW’ link at the bottom of the page or contact the module director, also listed at the bottom of the page.

Where do I get details about module content?

On the CPD Modules webpage you will find our current list of modules available. If you need further details regarding the content of the module, contact the module director at the bottom of the page. You can also email the CPD Development Officer.

How much does each module cost?

Modules vary in cost but on average it costs around €400 for a 5 credit module and €800 for a 10 credit module. There is also €30 non-refundable application fee. Upon being offered a place on a module, applicants must pay a deposit to secure the place.

Is your module approved by the professional body of which I am a member?

There are over 150 professional bodies and governing authorities covering a wide range of professions operating in Ireland. We have a close working relationship with many of them, and when a module has been approved through prior agreement with NUI Galway we highlight this in the module information. It should be noted that all of our credit bearing modules are awarded through the National University of Ireland and are internationally recognised through the European Credit Transfer Scheme.

I work full time, how will I be able to attend lectures?

All of the credit-bearing modules delivered by the Centre for Adult Learning and Professional Development are part-time to cater for the busy schedule of professionals. Contact the Module director listed CPD Modules webpage for further information.

Can I progress from one module to a full course?

If the module you have taken is a part of a longer course of study, you will be exempted from taking that module if you sign up for the award course such as a certificate, diploma or degree. An exemption means that you simply do not need to repeat the module, however, your marks from that module are not carried forward to the course.
